Usman khawaja slammed the opener in australia on Members of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for using “abusive language” when they were on their way to the ward after the morning session. Usman Khawaja and David Warner were seen having lively discussions with MCC members in the long room, as they walked back to the dressing room at lunch, with the stewards having to intervene.
“It was really disappointing,” Khawaja said on Channel 9.
“Lord’s is one of my favorite places to come. Respect is always shown at Lord’s, especially in the members’ suite in the Long Room, but he wasn’t there today. It was very disappointing.

“The place is for me to play, I always say Lorde,” Khawaja added. “The crowd is great, especially the members are great, and some of the things that were coming out of the members’ mouths are really disappointing and I wasn’t really standing by and doing it. So I just talked to a few of them.
“A few of them were brushing off some pretty big allegations and I just called them and they kept going, and I was like, well, here’s your membership here. So I’m just pointing them out. But it’s disrespectful to be honest. I just expect a lot better from the members.” .
The MCC issued a statement apologizing to the Australian team for the incident.
“The long room is unique in world cricket and the sheer privilege of the players running across the wing is very special,” the statement read.
After this morning’s play, emotions were running high, and words were sadly exchanged with some members of the Australian team, by a small number of the members.
“We have unreservedly apologized to the Australian team and will deal with any member who has not maintained the standard we expect through our disciplinary processes.
“Nobody had to be sent off the ground and we are happy to say there was no repeat of this as the players resumed the field for this afternoon’s session.”
Asked about Bristow’s sacking, Khawaja said, “It’s what it is. We took up the same thing at Edgbaston. Obviously it’s a little different here. To say the least, it’s disappointing. You know, we always try to play cricket, in the best of our spirits, And we’ve said since Patty took over, ever since Andrew MacDonald took over, winning is just as important as how we win.
“The decision was in the hands of the referee again. If the referee considered it a dead ball today, it was a dead ball. Just like Mitchell Stark’s catch yesterday, which was disqualified. We don’t quite agree with him, but you have to accept the referee’s decision.
“That’s why the umpires are there. So I mean, there are always gray areas in cricket. And I think the way it’s been done in some ways is kind of disappointing. I love Stewie (Stuart) Broad. I think he’s one of my favorite cricketers. The way he He plays with it, the way he always has a smile on his face and he was so angry there, which you don’t want to see. But yeah, that’s what it is.”
Tempers have flared after the controversial sacking of Jonny Bristow.
“The MCC came and apologized for the behavior of some of the members,” said Australian captain Pat Cummins in the post-match conference.
“I think some of them might lose their membership because of the way they’re behaving. Other than that time, they’ve been great all week. I think they were just very aggressive and abusive towards some of our players, which I know the MCC wasn’t very happy with.”
