When the Australians withdrew to the dressing room during lunch on the final day of the Lord’s Test, they were subjected to vicious cheers from members of the MCC in the Long Room in Lord’s. Anger fueled by Jonny Bristow’s sacking just before lunch.
In the various videos that have emerged on social media since England lost by 43 runs and lost 2-0 in the five-match series, Australian players have been seen being abused by the English crowd with chants such as “cheat, cheat” and “get the sandpaper”. Boos and hissing sounds can also be heard.
Another video clip also showed Australian opener Usman Khawaja and David Warner getting into a heated exchange with some of the members in the Long Room as they return to the dressing room.

In the fifty-second over on the last day of the Second Test, Bairstow dodged a slow bouncer from Cameron Green and left the crease believing the ball was already “dead”. However, Alex Carey broke the stumps and the third umpire ruled Marais Erasmus as hesitant in favor of Australia. At that point England were on 193 for 5 with Bairstow batting at 10 as he chased 371.

The England players later said he believed the umpires called it “over”, meaning the ball was dead. Alex Carey, the Australian wicket-keeper, bowled the stumps and Bairstow was given after a brief review.

Bairstow was confused, at first, then clearly unhappy at the bewilderment. Stokes left as the last known batsman. England lost by 43 runs and lost 2-0 in the five-match series.
Australia had to put up with the bitterness of the crowd for the rest of the match.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Sunday “apologised unreservedly” to the Australian team after a few of its members assaulted several visiting players in the Lord’s Long Room.
“The long room is unique in world cricket and the great privilege of players passing across the wing is a very special one. After this morning’s play emotions were running high, and words were sadly exchanged with some members of the Australian team, by a small number of members.
