Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie has reportedly agreed to leave the club after just one season at Camp Nou.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero says Casey agreed to leave the Blaugrana this summer after a phone call with manager Xavi. The Ivorian had only arrived at the club last summer on a free transfer after his contract with AC Milan expired.

Casey signed a four-year contract with Barcelona but failed to become a regular player last season. He started just 16 of 43 matches across competitions, scoring three goals and providing the most assists.

The 26-year-old has never seemed to fit the style of football that Xavi implements at the Camp Nou. It now looks like he’s ready to leave, with Atletico Madrid and Saudi giants Al-Ahly and Al-Nassr interested.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently admitted that Casey may leave:

“We don’t know anything officially yet, but if he wants to leave, we’ll respect his decision. If he stays, he could be really good for us.”

Romero says Casey is very grateful to Barcelona but has now agreed to leave him this summer. The Blaugrana are expected to move to multiplayer this summer amid their financial complications. Clement Lenglet is another name likely to leave.

Barcelona is eyeing a move to Girona’s Oriol Romeu

Romeo is on the Blaugrana radar.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have placed Girona midfielder Auriol Romeu on their short list this summer. He identified the Spanish Blaugrana as a main target, as coach Xavi seeks to strengthen his midfield.

Romeo was reported to have struck an agreement with the Blanquivermells to be allowed to leave if they received an offer from a bigger club. The 31-year-old was important to Michel Sanchez’s side last season, scoring twice in 36 appearances across competitions.

Barcelona still needs to replace Sergio Busquets, who left the club after 15 seasons. Romeo started his career at Barcelona’s La Masia academy before heading up to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2011. He could be a good replacement for Busquets.

Romeo also had stints with Southampton, Valencia and VfB Stuttgart. He has proven experience and could be a valuable asset for Xavi as he looks to build on his La Liga title-winning campaign.

Transfermarkt values the Spaniard at €5m, which would be a good job for the Blaugrana given their financial situation. He has two years left on his contract at Estadi Montilivi.
