Officials also revealed that just a day before Pavitra’s death by suicide, the couple had a fight over Chetan’s alleged affair with another woman.

Officials said on Tuesday that a 37-year-old woman died by suicide at her home in Higanahalli, Bengaluru. The woman, identified as Pavitra, accused her 32-year-old husband, Chetan Gowda, of having an illicit relationship with another woman in a note about her status on WhatsApp.

The accident occurred on July 2. Before her death, Pavitra uploaded a short clip of her status on WhatsApp allegedly attacking Chetan Gowda, along with the Death Note.

Pavitra’s mother, Padma, who saw her daughter’s status on WhatsApp, tried to contact her, but all her calls went unanswered. The terrified mother then rushed to Pavitra’s house in Hijanahalli and was shocked to find her hanging from a ceiling fan.

The mother then called the police and informed her son-in-law and another woman of allegedly abetting her daughter’s suicide.

According to the police, Chetan Gowda is the owner of Sumukh Merchants Private Limited and Pavitra was working as a manager in the company. After allegedly falling in love with Chetan, she divorced her first husband and started living with him.

“The deceased claimed, in her suicide note, that she was married to Chetan Gowda. We are investigating and trying to find clues on when and where they got married as there is no evidence available yet,” said a senior police source who asked not to be named.

Police sources also revealed that just a day before Pavitra’s death by suicide, the couple had a fight over Chetan’s alleged affair with another woman, after which Chetan left for his mother’s house. The next day, Pavitra dies by suicide.

Based on the complaint filed by Pavitra’s mother, Kingeri Police registered an FIR against Chetan and a woman under IPC Section 306 (incitement to commit suicide).

However, the police have formed a team and are searching for the accused who are currently fleeing.
