Official sources said that the Directorate of Enforcement on Tuesday arrested the owner and general manager of IREO real estate company, Lalit Goyal, in a money laundering case linked to the alleged bribery of a now-suspended special judge in Panchkula.

They said the businessman has been taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) from Gurugram.

The head of the emergency department is likely to appear in a special court on Wednesday to request his remand.

The money laundering case stems from an FIR report filed by the Haryana Police Anti-Corruption Bureau in April against former CBI-ED special judge Sudhir Parmar, who was assigned to Panchkula, his nephew Ajay Parmar, and Rob Kumar Bansal, another property promoter. M3M group and others.

This is the agency’s fourth arrest in this case in less than a month.

EM has arrested Ajay Parmar, nephew of Sudhir Parmar, and two directors and ‘key management persons’ of M3M Group – Basant Bansal and Pankaj Bansal.

According to the ACB FIR, ED said, credible information that Parmar was showing ‘favoritism’ to the accused, namely Roop Kumar Bansal, his brother Basant Bansal and IREO Lalit Goyal in the CEO’s criminal cases and other CBI cases pending against them in his court, has been received.

Goyal was arrested by the ED in 2021 in another money laundering investigation.
