I played An important role in piercing the rebellion of Ajit Pawar In 2019. When the NCP leader on Sunday successfully took control of the party and became the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, his uncle and party chief Sharad Pawar promoted NCP Student Wing Chief Sonia Dohan on Monday by Assigning her the responsibility of the central office of the National Congress Party in New Delhi.

Dohan, who is from Hisar in Haryana state, thanked Pawar and NCP chairwoman Supriya Soli, daughter of Pawar and the Paramati MP, saying she would fulfill the responsibility with “dedication and hard work”. The 30-year-old entered politics during her college days at Kurukshetra University. I got to know NCP when she was in Pune to join a pilot training course. From then on, Dohan rose steadily in the party, and was appointed president of the student wing of Delhi University. Later, she assumed the position of the congregation’s national president.

She first came into the limelight in 2019 when, along with the National Congress Party’s Youth Wing President Dheeraj Sharma, she reportedly “rescued” four MLAs from a hotel in Gurugram and brought them to Sharad Pawar’s house in Delhi. The four – Dindori MLA Narhari Zirwal, Shahpur MLA Daulat Daroda, Amalner MLA Anil Patil and Kalwan MLA Nitin Pawar – had sided with Ajit Pawar but immediately returned to Pawar’s side. Also last year, Doohan tried to storm a hotel in Goa where MLAs supporting Ekanth Shinde were staying after their revolt against Uddhav Thackeray. She used a fake ID to enter the hotel and was arrested. She was later released on bail.

Dohan kept herself largely at a distance from other leaders from Maharashtra, did not interfere in the work of government units of the student and youth wings, and is said to be close only to the NCP chief and Sole.
