On 10 May, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman was indicted in the Toshakhana case by Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, who dismissed objections to the admissibility of the case.
The case concerns allegations that the former prime minister “deliberately concealed” details of the gifts he kept from the Tushasakhana – a repository where gifts delivered to government officials from foreign officials were kept – during his tenure as prime minister, and continues from their reported sales.
The PTI chief then turned to the IHC, which suspended criminal proceedings in the case until 8 June.
A day earlier, the President of PTI filed a court petition requesting that Judge Aamir Farooq recuse himself from the case.
In a petition filed by the attorney Gohar Khan Arguments in the cases are far from over yet, Imran Khan said Monday, as he sought to remove Judge Farooq from the court on the grounds of “fair hearing, unbiased court, access to justice and impartial procedure”.
Speaking to media outlets outside the city, PTI’s chief lawyer, Gohar Khan, described the verdict as a “victory”.
“An appeal has been lodged against the session judge’s decision in the Toshakhana case… We have been trying in the courts for a year. Today, PTI has won,” Geo News said.
