A 56-year-old woman climbed a 60-foot electric pole here Monday, police said, alleging that her husband and children were involved in an assault case against the brothers of a former counselor.
The accident occurred near the Sector 29 bypass road in the morning, they said.
The woman is the wife of the main suspect in the assault of the brothers of a former Maui village councilor, who said her husband and son were involved in the case and were refused to get off the pole.
The police arrived at the scene, and the woman, with the help of the fire brigade, took the woman down after two hours of effort and sent her home after undergoing a medical examination.
On May 21, an attempted murder case was registered against Satveer Bhatti, his sons and others for beating the brothers of former council member Bijinder Sharma.
Sector 17 crime branch has arrested the accused Abhay, Lokesh aka Lawki and Rakesh aka Loki and Lokesh. But Bijinder Sharma and his family claim that the police did not arrest the main accused Satbir Bhatti and his sons.
Sharma and his family members organized a protest after blocking the roads and demanding the arrest of the accused. The police opened the jam, confirming that the accused would be arrested soon.
At around 5:30 am, Mehak, the wife of accused Satbir Bhatti, climbed the electric pole at the Delhi-Mumbai expressway construction site near Sector 29. The pole had no wire connections.

The policemen implored the lady via loudspeaker to come down. The woman said she would only disembark if her husband and son’s names were removed from the FIR.
Firefighter Gogendra Singh, driver Sumit Bhadana and Rajkumar climbed the pole and hit the nets. Jogendra Singh continued to climb while engaging the woman in conversation and finally caught her.
The woman was forced to speak to her relatives on the phone and then taken down after a rope was tied around her.
A senior police officer said the woman was rescued and sent home after a medical examination.
