Female Techie blows the horn against municipal authorities over illegal hunting of her pet dog with stray dogs in Andhra Pradesh

A tech from the town of Brodatore in Andhra Pradesh has filed complaints against the municipal authorities for illegally trapping her pet dog with other stray dogs.

The family found their pet dog missing on June 28.

Earlier, a Buddayapall resident in Proddatur complained about the danger of dogs to Praja Spanda, a public complaints programme. According to the ward secretariat, municipal employees arrived in the area and caught the stray dogs and left them in the nearest forest area.

Prajwala complained to former Central Minister and President of People for Animal Organization Manika Gandhi, who got a call and spoke to her about the incident.

Gandhi also made a call to collectors Vijay Rama Raju, SP Anbu Rajan and Municipal Commissioner Venkata Ramaniah. The collector contacted her and assured her that the necessary measures would be taken regarding this issue.

After not receiving any further response from the concerned officials, complaints were filed at three police stations on July 3. Narayana Madhav, CI said T. Narayana Madhav, CI. Notifications have been issued to the Municipal Commissioner, Sanitation Superintendent of 4th Division, Ward Hygiene Secretary and Volunteers.

Prajwala said that local residents told her that the staff had poisoned the dogs before they caught them. She added, “I was forced to re-write the complaint twice after I made a complaint to the police.”

She confirmed that she will go to the Supreme Court to retrieve her pet dog along with other dogs that were seized by municipality employees.
