ONE Championship’s ONE Friday Fights series inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium has been a smashing success for the promotion according to ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Starting in January 2023, the promotion began airing weekly events inside the “Mecca of Muay Thai” in Bangkok, featuring some of the best rookie punches in the region as well as some of the biggest names in all of combat sports. Events has quickly become synonymous with fast-paced action, and the ratings seem to reflect that.
talk with South China Morning PostChatri Sityodtong revealed that the weekly series has broken many viewership records in Thailand and continues to exceed all expectations:
“TV and fan ratings have exploded. Our numbers have exploded on every metric that we judge fan engagement viewership numbers for, you know, average time spent. Fan count, obviously, our TV episodes, minute by minute, everything we crunch after number record in the history of Thailand.
Last month, the promotion delivered its biggest One Friday card to date, which featured a long-awaited world heavyweight title unification clash between Arjan Bhullar and second-division champion Anatoly Malekhin. In the end, it took the Russian juggernaut three rounds to dispatch Polar, turning his interim title into undisputed gold.
The event also saw the return of Thai fan favorite Superlek Kiatmoo9. “The Kicking Machine” stunned spectators inside the iconic stadium by scoring a stunning first-round knockout against promotional newcomer Nabil Anani in a Muay Thai showdown.
