Former Intercontinental Champion and current SmackDown color commentator Wade Barrett has nothing but praise for Gunther. Barrett even believed that The Ring General elevated the status of the IC title to its former status.

The 35-year-old WWE superstar could break The Honky Tonk Man’s record as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in about two months. He has faced all challengers since winning the title from Ricochet last year.

Some of the WWE Superstars he faced after winning the title include Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus, Braun Strowman, Madcap Moss, Xavier Woods, Drew McIntyre, Mustafa Ali, and Matt Riddle.

in appearance on First leg with Ariel HalawaniBarrett was asked about the Empire leader’s reign as Intercontinental Champion.

“Gunther is a total phenomenon, to be honest with you,” Barrett said. “I think if he didn’t have the Intercontinental Championship, I think we would already have seen him battle the likes of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the World Championship. But I think he’s still in the making. I think he’s in a really good position. I just think there isn’t one weak point in him. his game.” (Erosion fighting)

Wade Barrett also compared his five Intercontinental Championships to The Ring General’s only streak as champion.

“I’ve had that championship five times, and the effect it had on the caliber of that championship, I sent it through the cellar,” Barrett said. “Thank God, prestige from Gunter.”

Gunther is on his way to clash with Drew McIntyre

After he defeated The Ring General Matt Riddle at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, Drew McIntyre returned after taking a hiatus since WrestleMania 39. McIntyre faced the Intercontinental Champion, presenting him with his patented Claymore.

On Monday’s episode of RAW, McIntyre delivered another message after saving Riddle from another beating by Imperium. The Scottish warrior took out Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci before staring down his opponent.
