Firefighting officials have successfully rescued 12 people, including a pregnant woman, after they were trapped in an elevator in a shopping complex in Hyderabad.
According to ANI, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when 12 shoppers got stuck inside an elevator at PVR Next Galleria Mall in Malakpet. They were rescued by firefighters after an hour of harrowing struggle.

Media reports stated that the mall’s employees failed to get the shoppers out despite repeated attempts, which led to the deterioration of the condition of the pregnant woman inside. Later the staff reached out to the fire department.
“As many as 12 people, including a pregnant woman, were stuck in an elevator of a mall in Musarambagh around 12:30 am (Wednesday),” firefighting officer Srinivasa Reddy was quoted by ANI news agency as saying.
Upon receiving the information, a team of firefighting officials rushed to the scene and rescued all the people trapped from the stuck elevator, the district fire officer told news agency ANI.
“Immediately upon receiving the information, Melkpet firefighters rushed to the site and rescued all the occupants of the elevator, thus averting a great tragedy,” Reddy added.
According to firefighters, a group of people got into the elevator on the sixth floor of the mall to get off. Halfway through, the elevator stopped.
Member Muhammed Waseem from Bandlaguda told Deccan Chronicle that they experienced a sudden tremor and the elevator stopped. “Suddenly, smoke broke out and we heard some noises, as if something had broken, and this worries us,” he said.
