Ludhiana Police Tuesday booked a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Punjab Police and his son on charges of threatening and crushing a man.

The complainant alleged that the DSP had trespassed on his daughter-in-law residing in Australia and when he went to check the said plot of land, the former service provider and his son betrayed and threatened him. The complaint was filed in March this year.

An FIR has been registered against former DSP Randhir Singh of Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar and his son, whose identity has yet to be determined. The FIR was captured in Kuldip Sharma’s statement from Guru Angad Dev Colony, father-in-law of Australia-based NRI’s Shilpa Sharma.

Kuldeep Sharma, in his statement, told the police that Rajneesh Thakur’s father-in-law had given her a plot in Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar as a gift. He further said that they had recently learned that the former DSP had trespassed on the plot of land and had built some rooms on the land. He said that on March 5, when he went to check out the site, the former police officer and his son rammed their car into Scorpio, attacked him and threatened to break his legs and teach him a lesson if he came back to the site again.

Inspector Madhu Bala, SHO Dugri Police Station, said an FIR under sections 279, 341, 506 and 34 of the IPC had been filed against the former DSP and his son.
