Scammers collect money between Rs 4,500 and Rs 11,500 for various pujas at Lord Jagannath Temple

An FIR was filed against unknown persons after police received a complaint that a fake mobile app was deceiving devotees in the name of performing pujas and serving Brahmin meals at Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri.

The app called ‘Shilagram Chaal’ promised devotees to offer online darshan. Sambhunath Khuntia, a servant of the temple, filed an FIR report at Singhdwar Police Station on the matter.

Scammers collect money between 4,500 rupees and 11,500 rupees for various pujas at Lord Jagannath Temple.

“Promising to offer poojas at Lord Jagannath temple, fraudsters are able to deceive the devotees. It is a fake application in the name of Lord Jagannath. I have submitted the FIR in this regard,” said Khuntia.

The management of Shree Jagannath Temple took the issue seriously and directed its IT cell to crack down on the app and website in question.

Shree Mandir Ritual Director Jitendra Sahu said, “The matter has come to our attention. The management of Shree Jagannath Temple will take the case as top priority. The IT cell will monitor it. Strict action will be taken against the accused.”

The devotees also demanded an investigation into the matter. “This is a source of concern for us. There should be a detailed investigation into the matter and strict action taken against the accused,” said one of the enthusiasts.
