An official told News 18 that the train will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on July 7 and will be the fastest train on the road as it will cover a distance of 300 kilometers in 4 hours and 10 minutes.

The Vande Bharat Express between Lucknow and Gorakhpur is scheduled to launch on July 7 and will connect Ayodhya and Basti en route, completing the journey in just over four hours, officials familiar with the matter told News18 on Tuesday.

The train will connect the city of Ayodhya to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh on one side and another religious center, Gorakhpur, on the other before the inauguration of the Ram Mandir at the start of the new year.

This will be the first time that Gorakhpur will have a train of this stature. The district, which has the second longest railway platform in the world after Hubli Junction in Karnataka, is not associated with either Shatabdi or Rajdhani.

Gorakhpur station is the headquarters of the North Eastern Railway (NER). This Vande Bharat will be a first for NER.

The train will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on July 7 and will be the fastest train on the road as it will cover 300 kilometers in 4 hours and 10 minutes. An official told News 18 on condition of anonymity that the train will stop in Basti and Ayodhya.

So far, Gorakhdham Express and Bihar Sampark Kranti Express are the fastest trains between Lucknow and Gorakhpur which complete the journey in 4 hours 45 minutes.

On Sunday, Vande Bharat had its first trial from Lucknow, and on Tuesday, the trial was conducted from Gorakhpur.

While the final schedule is yet to be announced, the official added that the train will start the commercial journey from Lucknow in the evening and from Gorakhpur in the morning.

This will be the second dedicated Vande Bharat for Uttar Pradesh after the one that became operational between Delhi and Varanasi. However, two more Vande Bharats – Delhi-Dehradun and Delhi-Bhopal – made stops in Uttar Pradesh.

Enhance connectivity between Ayodhya and Gorakhpur

While this train will be between Lucknow and Gorakhpur, it will facilitate the journey between Ayodhya and Gorakhpur in a better way.

A number of trains connect Ayodhya and Lucknow; However, the train connection from Ayodhya towards Gorakhpur is limited. Another route via Gonda and Basti provides faster train connection between Lucknow and Gorakhpur.

Launching this train before the opening of the temple will make it easier to travel to Ayodhya from Gorakhpur.

The second is Vande Bharat for the Rajasthan national team

Apart from the Lucknow-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate another Vande Bharat for Jodhpur and Sabarmati through video conferencing.

This will be the second time Vande Bharat has contested for Rajasthan, which will go to the polls later this year.

In April, the Prime Minister opened Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat between Ajmer and Delhi. The Prime Minister attended the event through video conferencing only.

Last week, no fewer than five Vande Bharat pairs opened on the same day. With these trains, the total number of Vande Bharat trains has reached 23 or 46 services. All electrified cases were connected to these semi-high-speed trains.

With the launch of the two trains, a total of 50 services will be running for Vande Bharat.

The official also said that a total of 27 Vande Bharat trains have been manufactured and two of them are being kept for emergencies – one in Delhi and one in Chennai.
