Officials from Western Railways (WR) said that the Mumbai-bound Vande Bharat Express from Gandhinagar was hit by a bull that was traveling on the railway tracks near Valsad station on Monday night. The train, which was not damaged, was running at full speed and dragged the bull with it for about 30 meters before it came to a stop.

After the accident, which occurred around 6:30 pm, the train stopped for 20 minutes to remove the bull’s carcass from under the second coach, after the main engine. Officials said she was then allowed to continue her journey.

This is the third cattle hit by the Vande Bharat trains in Valsad district. The first cattle-beating incident occurred on October 29, 2022, near Atoll station, followed by the second incident at Udvada station on December 1 last year.

WR PRO Pradeep Sharma said, “To prevent such incidents, we have started fencing on both sides of the tracks, starting from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. So far, fencing works have been carried out on 461 km of the 622 km stretch on both sides. Some bridges and other areas remain.” .

“Fencing works have been completed on a stretch of 32 km in Ahmedabad State Railway, followed by 237 km in Vadodara and 192 km in Mumbai. South Gujarat stations such as Surat, Valsad and Vaphi, among others, fall under the jurisdiction of Mumbai Railway.” “In Monday’s accident, the train was not damaged,” he added.
