Actress Vidya Balan promoted her upcoming Nayat in Mumbai on Wednesday. Here, the actor talks about returning to the big screen after a four-year break. She was last seen in Jagan Shakti’s Mission Mangal with Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu, among others.
At the press conference, Vidya was asked if she was nervous as she is returning to the big screen after a long hiatus and if the pressure of the film’s box office numbers is holding her back. Vidya, who admitted to being “a little bit” nervous, said, “I think I always get excited and nervous and I can’t tell the difference at all, I feel the same just a few days before its release. I love the fact that people have expectations from this movie and from me, I’m so grateful for that.” I am very hopeful that everyone will enjoy it.”
“However, there is a lot of excitement because my last outing in theaters was Mission Mangal which did very well and fingers crossed that people are going to come to theaters and see Neeyat and love it and maybe watch it again, because you’re going to need two… The good thing about promotions is that you You don’t get time to feel pressured. We are so tired by the end of the day and you don’t get enough time to process what you’re feeling. I look forward to how the film is received by everyone,” Vaidya added.
Vidya also talked about collaborating with director Anu Menon for the second time after the 2021 OTT release Shakuntala Devi. She also revealed that she chose “Niyat” because she thought she would enjoy it as an audience member.
She said, “I’m impatient and easily bored as an audience. So when I’m reading something in the first place, I ask myself, Do I want to watch this? Then of course I understand if this character calls out to me.”
While talking about collaborating with Anu Menon for the second time, Vidya said, “Shakuntala Devi, which I did with Anu Menon (Director of Neeyat) and then Sherni and Jalsa were released on Amazon Prime. So, it was not in my hands. The pandemic was there. So it was a very good thing that despite the pandemic, we had to share our work with all of you. Now, we have the opportunity to show our films again in theaters, and it’s the kind of ‘Niyat’ movie that can be enjoyed on the big screen. When I saw the trailer I also felt that it would be great to see it on the big screen.”
Alongside Vidya Balan, Neeyat stars an ensemble cast that includes Dipannita Sharma, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Ram Kapoor, Shashank Arora, and Danish Rizwi. The murder mystery will hit theaters on July 7.
