After eloping together, the duo reportedly released a video saying they are in love and want to be together.

A 21-year-old teacher and a 17-year-old girl, who escaped from Bikaner in Rajasthan last week, have been tracked down in Chennai.

After eloping together, the duo reportedly released a video saying they are in love and want to be together.

A class 12 student went missing from a private school in Sri Dungargarh town on July 1. Her teacher, Nida Behleem, about 21 years old from the same school, was reported missing at the same time.

Inspector General, Bikaner, said Omprakash PTI A police team was tracking the couple’s movements and located them in Chennai on Wednesday with the help of local police. A team led by Deputy SP was chasing them. They were in Kerala before reaching Tamil Nadu. “It was found at a place in Chennai,” he said.

After the matter came out, some right-wing groups claimed that this was a “love jihad” incident because the underage girl is Hindu and the teacher is Muslim, which led to protests in Sri Dungargarh town in Bikaner district.

A case was registered after the student’s family alleged that the teacher had kidnapped the girl and brainwashed her. Police booked the teacher, her father, and her two brothers over the minor girl’s family complaint under sections 363 and 366, both related to kidnapping, and 120-B of the IPC. They were also booked under sections of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The teacher’s family, Nada Bahlim, filed a missing complaint.

On Monday, a 4-minute video surfaced on social media in which the underage girl is seen saying that the two left of their own free will and love each other.

“We are lesbians and we cannot marry any other man, so we decided to elope. If you catch us, our lives will be over. Do not file cases against their family members. The case of kidnapping is wrong. I am not a little girl who can be persuaded.”

The teacher, in turn, said, “Don’t create unnecessary riots… We are very safe, we will be very happy, leave us.” The police are trying to find out where the video was filmed.

The teacher refuted the allegations of the student’s family, and said that she did not lure the girl and there was no role for her family behind leaving them together.

The opposition leader of the Rajasthan Assembly, Rajendra Rathore, also visited the town on Tuesday and met the girl’s family members. He claimed that innocent girls are being “brainwashed” and he will raise the matter in the assembly session.
