Are we heading towards a future without programmers? Stability AI founder, maker of Stable Diffusion, Emad Mostaki, thinks so. In his recent interview, the CEO of Stability AI made a thought-provoking statement. He said that there will be no programmers in the next five years, mainly indicating how ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools will take over.

Moustack was speaking at a show hosted by author Peter Diamandis when he made the startling revelation. The CEO appeared on an episode titled “Why AI Matters and How to Deal with the Coming Change”. Mostafa spoke extensively about the current state of artificial intelligence and his vision in his interactions with the author. He said that the future of humans does not look very bright while closing the interview.

To substantiate his claim, the CEO said that data from GitHub revealed that 41 percent of all code at the moment is generated by AI. Emphasizing the increasing popularity of AI, Mostaque said that in just three months it has overtaken Bitcoin and Ethereum in GitHub.

ChatGPT on your mobile without internet

The CEO also claimed that by the end of next year, people will have ChatGPT on their smartphones without the Internet. His statement signals a major shift in the way we use technology and artificial intelligence playing an integral role in it.

The video interview also saw the duo discuss the fear and hope associated with developments related to artificial intelligence. The conversation focuses on the importance of providing valuable information to humans. Mostafa also touched on how generative AI is affecting various sectors including Hollywood, healthcare and education. During the conversation, Mostaque also compares the AI to a talented trainee analyst with a bad memory.

Artificial intelligence models for all sectors

In the interview, Mostaque went on to discuss the wide range of projects that Stability AI is currently working on. He told the host that he aims to help provide the building blocks for a “community operating system” — essentially creating AI models of all sectors and methods including video, audio, DNA, chemical reactions, language, and so on. The CEO said models were being developed for sectors from banking to governance, and even national models based on different countries.

Mostaque said that with AI, one can push the intelligence of the Internet to the edge, allowing everyone to create their own AI systems. This according to the CEO means that everyone can have AI working for them rather than against them. The duo also discussed the potential for machine learning research and Transformer model development. He said his company is working on scaling the Transformer model using huge supercomputers. He also claimed that their new supercomputer is 10 times faster than the one that works with NASA.
