Today, Thursday, City Colleges announced the third merit list for first-year admissions into undergraduate courses. The most popular colleges experienced a marginal decrease in cut-off scores, indicating fewer job openings. However, there was no third benefit list for some of the courses, because they are full.

The city’s most prestigious St. Xavier’s College has yet to announce a third merit list for any course. The principal of the college, Dr. Rajendra Shinde, said, “There is no third list because all seats are full.” The Bachelor of Arts (BA), the most sought after course in South Mumbai College, has closed admissions at 91.83 per cent in The second merit list was announced last week. The first merit list for this course closed at 92.17 per cent.

In Ramnarain Ruia College, there was no tertiary merit list for BSc and Biochemistry. For other courses too, the third merit list in this college has fallen marginally from the second merit list (see box). Also at Jai Hind College, the popular undergraduate course closed admission with 91 per cent on third merit list which is a marginal drop from 92 per cent on second merit list.

A marginal decrease in the cut-off indicates seat filling. In this case, the chances of getting more merit lists are less. The cut-off score for the same course was 94.33 percent on the second merit list.

As most of the city colleges fill up the seats by the end of the third merit list, Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Principal of the Faculty of Human Resources, said, “We may have another list, just for a few seats, as some students may jump to other colleges after the third merit list. In addition to However, students from the boarding quota can switch colleges if they can get a preferred seat.”

Internal admission is for students who have passed class 12 of the same college. Where such students are given preference for admission to undergraduate courses with a separate merit list; Most of them confirm admission on the assigned seats, so that they will get a better deal through the regular merit lists.
