The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday raised the cost allowance (DA) for state government employees by five per cent, taking the total to 38 per cent.

However, due to disagreements, the employees involved under their association CG State Gazetted Officers Association have called that they will observe a one-day strike on Friday.

Incidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the state on Friday as part of campaigning ahead of the assembly elections this year.

The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting at CM Bhupesh’s Baghel’s official residence in Raipur. It aims to benefit 3.80 employees and will cost Rs 1,000 crore per annum to the state exchequer.
