Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel, who is on a two-day visit to the tribal areas of Narmada district, on Wednesday chose Javali, a forest village on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border in the Sagpara taluka, to spend the night at a local villager’s house.

Describing it as “a new approach to dialogue and public relations”, Patel met the tribes and social activists in the village and had a meal with a tribal family after arriving at the specially constructed helipad.

Prior to the chief minister’s visit to the village, houses in Javali were decorated with banners made of Asopalav leaves to symbolize ‘auspicious welcome’, sources in the district administration said.

The village, which had been turned into a fortress, with many officials camping overnight with Patel, had been awaiting his arrival since mid-June, when he was first expected to attend Shala Pravchotsav. Local BJP leaders said the event was canceled due to the onset of Cyclone Bebarjoy.

According to a government statement, Patel held a dialogue with Sifaq village, Talati, teachers and owners of affordable grain shops in the village. He also interacted with health workers during his visit to the health and wellness center as well as Anganwadi-Nandghar in the village, where the children were called to meet the CM in the evening.

Patel also visited the state-of-the-art mobile digital X-ray vehicle that operates under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program at the Health and Wellness Centre. The Prime Minister presented a bag of nutrition to a tuberculosis patient. He asked the patients to take care of their health by eating nutritious foods regularly.

Patil visited the home of the local tribe Arvindbhai Vasava to inquire whether the family had received benefits from government schemes and other tribally-designated utilities, along with basic amenities such as water, health and education.

The statement said, “The Prime Minister had an emotional conversation with the villagers. He also visited the home of a woman named Kalati Valve, and inquired about the damage to the crop during Cyclone Bebargui. Klauatipin praised the government’s preparedness and planning, stressing that the village and farm survived Cyclone Bebargui with no damages.”

Patel shared dinner with a tribal family and interacted with the villagers and students. The statement reads, “The prime minister described the success of the welfare programs for the underprivileged and the tribes across the country, especially Gujarat, during nine years of good governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The 38 government-approved fair price shops in Sagpara Taluka are helping 89,000 residents from 18,025 households, who enjoy the benefits of the Food Security Card.

Patel inquired about village school facilities, library, health center services and services provided through the use of technology in Panchayat Ghar under e-Gram Vishwagram. The chief minister, who participated in the evening aarti at the Hanuman temple in the village, was accompanied by Narmada district collector Shweta Teotia and other officials.
