The Chief Minister will start a PVC card distribution campaign in Varanasi on July 7 where he will also address the beneficiaries followed by a similar exercise in Raipur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the delivery of 1.6 crore Ayushman cards in Uttar Pradesh during his visit to the state on July 7. This is even as the central government speeds up the distribution of Ayushmann cards to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
The Chief Minister will launch a PVC card distribution drive in Varanasi on Friday where he will also address the beneficiaries followed by a similar exercise in Raipur.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) system, the central government provides annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family and all beneficiaries receive Ayushman Bharat cards.
This card guarantees free treatment of Rs 5 lakh per family per annum in public and private hospitals set up and acts like a ‘prepaid card’ for the full amount, which beneficiaries can use to avail treatment under the scheme.
There are about 28,500 hospitals including 12,500 private hospitals where beneficiaries can benefit from treatment.
On June 22, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath directed officials to prepare Ayushman Bharat cards for those who qualify with “priority”.
Across India, ₹23.9 crore Ayushman cards have been distributed so far out of the ₹60 crore beneficiary base.
This is not the first time that PM Modi has launched a card distribution engine.

So far, according to government data, Madhya Pradesh has recorded the highest card circulation with 4 crore cards distributed, followed by Uttar Pradesh (Rs 3 crore), Chhattisgarh (Rs 2 crore), then Gujarat and Assam.
