WWE SummerSlam 2023 will take place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on August 5th. Fans online are excited about the biggest event of the summer, making bold predictions for the potential returns of several WWE Superstars.
A Twitter user named @Shreyanshu_5 noted that there have been huge payouts at the past three SummerSlam events – Roman Reigns in 2020, Brock Lesnar in 2021, and the trio of Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky last year.
This led many fans to believe there might be a few returns for this year’s SummerSlam in Detroit. One fan is almost certain that Randy Orton will return on August 5:
“Randy Orton, probably…and also based on my predictions.”
This fan also agreed that Orton could come back but was hoping for Big E and Kofi Kingston:
“I’m hoping it’s Randy Orton but I have my doubts about him. I’m also hoping for Big E but I also have my doubts about him too. Kofi might work but I wonder if he’s fully recovered or not so I honestly don’t know.”
Another fan speculated that Lita would even return to odds with Becky Lynch against Trish Stratus and Zoe Stark:
“Lita is my choice. Zoe and Trish beat Becky and Lita comes to the rescue.”
This fan added Bobby Lashley and Bray Wyatt to the mix:
“Randy, Bray or Bobby Lashley”.
A fan decided to crack a joke, maybe:
“Eva Marie will be back!”
SummerSlam is still about a month away, but the card is really starting to roll out as WWE has begun teasing potential matches on Raw. Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey faced off on Monday, while Ricochet challenged Logan Paul to a showdown with him the next week.
Will Randy Orton return to SummerSlam?
Randy Orton has been sidelined for over a year due to a back injury. His comeback has been teased online even though his father, Bob Orton, is hinting at a possible retirement. However, Kurt Angle revealed Podcast Late last month Orton made a full recovery from back surgery.
“He’s recovered from his back surgery,” Angel said. “I think he’ll be back soon. He’s doing much better.” (free Contact Zone)
At the age of 43, Orton really doesn’t have anything to prove in the ring anymore. However, he remains an important member of the WWE locker room, and his presence is important in building the next group of WWE superstars.
