Real Madrid seeks to strengthen its squad this summer to compete in the League and Europe next season. Carlo Ancelotti’s men finished second in La Liga last season and also missed out on the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are not willing to offer more than 200 million euros for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe this summer. Elsewhere, Chelsea’s lead was denied by midfielder Federico Valverde.

On that note, here’s a look at the top Real Madrid transfer stories on July 6, 2023:

Real Madrid will not pay more than 200 million euros for Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe's future is still undetermined.
Kylian Mbappe’s future is yet to be determined.

Real Madrid is not willing to pay more than 200 million euros for Kylian Mbappe, according to journalist Josep Pedroroll.

The French striker is a long-term target for the La Liga giants, who are planning to sign the player next summer. Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of next season, but he has no plans to sign an extension.

Los Blancos have already failed to sign the 24-year-old on two previous occasions, but have been hot on their heels. Real Madrid are now hoping to secure the player in Bosman’s transfer next summer. But recent comments from Parisian President Nasser Al-Khelaifi have forced them back to the backboard.

Al-Khelaifi said the Ligue 1 giants would benefit from Mbappe this summer if he continued to stall on a new deal. As a result, many clubs were put on alert, with Liverpool among the player’s admirers. Los Blancos are not averse to signing a player of the French caliber this year, especially as they are looking for a successor to Karim Benzema.

The 35-year-old left the Santiago Bernabeu this summer to move to Al-Ittihad, and Real Madrid wants Mbappe to be his long-term replacement. Los Blancos, however, are not going to get into a bidding war for the Paris Saint-Germain forward and have decided to value the 24-year-old.

Federico Valverde is wanted at Stamford Bridge

Federico Valverde has rejected an option to join Chelsea this summer, according to AS.

The Uruguayan midfielder has emerged as a target for the Blues this year. Pochettino wants to improve his options in midfield and has his eyes on the 24-year-old.

Valverde has developed into one of the best midfielders in La Liga since joining Real Madrid in 2016. He enjoyed another productive career at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, scoring 12 goals and seven assists in 56 appearances. While he was a regular fixture under Carlo Ancelotti, the arrival of Judd Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund has raised doubts about Valverde’s future.

Chelsea are hoping to take advantage of the situation and have offered the player an escape route to Stamford Bridge. However, the Uruguay has no desire to leave the La Liga giants. Los Blancos and Ancelotti also consider him central to their plans and will not accept any offer for the 24-year-old.

Carlo Ancelotti has prepared for the Brazil 2024 job

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced that Carlo Ancelotti will take charge of the Brazilian national team next summer.

The Seleção has yet to name a successor to Tite, who left the post after a disappointing performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The South American nation has been hot on the heels of Ancelotti for a while and have taken a liking to the Italian manager.

Ancelotti has an enviable track record and is one of the game’s management legends. His contract with Real Madrid runs until the end of next season, but he has always insisted that he intends to honor the deal.

The Brazilian Football Confederation is ready to wait for their man and has now announced his imminent arrival. The Italian will complete his stint with Los Blancos and take charge of Brazil in June 2024. However, La Liga giants and Ancelotti have yet to confirm the news.
