TMC Youth Wing Chief Sayoni Ghosh Wednesday skipped the second round of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the school job fraud case. Ghosh, who was asked to appear before ED officials at its Kolkata office at 11 am, was seen campaigning for the party at Galsi in Purba Bardhaman district in the July 8 panchayat elections. The campaigning of the panchayat will end on Thursday.

In a letter to the ED, sources said she had arrived just five minutes before her scheduled appearance, Ghosh informed them of her inability to visit the ED’s office for questioning and said she would be able to appear “at any time any day” after the July 11-day vote count.

“There are only two days left for the campaign. Therefore, I have informed the CEO of my inability to appear before him. I am ready to cooperate with them and will appear after July 11th. My country has sent them with the documents and financial details sought by the ED officials,”

On June 30, emergency department officials questioned her for 11 hours.

Earlier today, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said Sayuni will not appear for questioning due to the election-related clashes.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya. He called Saayoni’s decision to skip questioning an “attempted escape” from the ED investigation. “Her prior participation in the election campaign cannot be an excuse to skip the interrogation. The TMC leaders are trying to evade the investigation. If anyone claims they are innocent, they should face the interrogation without any fear.”
