Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat will improve connectivity to famous places like Jodhpur, Abu Road and Ahmedabad as well as boost socio-economic development in the region.
Tourist destinations including Jodhpur, Mt Abu, Palanpur and Sabarmati will now be connected with the latest Vande Bharat trains that will enhance connectivity between Rajasthan and Gujarat as they will complete the journey in six hours and 10 minutes.
Until now, the fastest trains between Jodhpur and Sabarmati used to take around eight hours. On Friday, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Vande Bharat train and commercial flights will start from Sunday.
This is the second Vande Bharat for both Rajasthan and Gujarat. The polled state of Rajasthan got its first Vand Bharat in April between Ajmer and Delhi. Vande Bharat first was marked in Gujarat in September 2022 and was India’s third semi-high speed.
According to ministry officials, Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat will improve connectivity to popular places like Jodhpur, Abu Road and Ahmedabad as well as boost socio-economic development in the district.
There is a lot of traffic between the two areas. The train will stop at Mahesana, Palanpur, Abu Road, Falna and Pali Marwar stations in both directions. “This Vande Bharat will facilitate the journey for tourists as well as business travelers,” the official said.
They added that the second fastest regular train on the route is Surya Nagari, which departs from Jodhpur, takes 7 hours and 50 minutes, is always crowded and runs on all days of the week. 3AC costs 790 rupees, for 2nd AC 1,100 rupees and for 1st AC 1,849.
The Jat Adi Express, which departs from Jammu, also runs daily between the two terminals and completes the journey in seven hours and 40 minutes. The third ac costs 730 rupees and the second ac costs 1035 rupees. This train does not have the first AC class.
Vande Bharat, made up of eight coaches, will work six days a week, except for Tuesdays. There will be 405 chair cars and 39 executive class seats on the train. The cost of a wheelchair car seat between Jodhpur and Sabarmati will be 1115 rupees and for executive class it will be 2130 rupees. Vande Bharat’s executive class will be more affordable than the first AC road trip.
Vande Bharat train 12461 will depart from Jodhpur at 5.55 am and will reach Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) at 12.05 pm. On the way back, Train 12462 will depart from Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) at 4.45pm and will reach Jodhpur at 10.55pm.
Although this will be the fastest train on the Jodhpur-Sabarmati route, Rajdhani will still be the fastest on the Abu Road-Sabarmati stretch. While Vande Bharat takes 2 hours 55 minutes, Rajdhani can cover the distance in just 2 hours 36 minutes.
To date, 23 Vande Bharats are operating in India.
