Russian flyweight fighter Tagir Khalilov faces a replacement opponent in his next fight, but he’s unfazed by it.
“Samingpri” fights Thai superstar Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main battle for ONE Fight Night 12 on Prime Video on July 14 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
Tagir Khalilov was initially scheduled to face Algeria’s Ilyas Mahmoudi on the card. After an unexpected turn of events involving the original fight, he is promoted to sponsor the event against “The Kicking Machine”.
Speaking to ONE Championship in an interview, the 30-year-old Samingpri Muay Thai Gym member said that a change in opponent hardly matters to him and that he is ready to take on anyone.
He said:
“The change in opponent didn’t really affect my training camp. We made some small adjustments.”
Tagir Khalilov has been on a rampage lately, winning his last two matches on the way to an opening-round finish.
Thailand’s Chorfah Tor Sangtiennoi topped by technical knockout (uppercut) in their match last December in Manila. Then in March, another Thai KO’d Black Panther with a nasty body shot that immediately sent him to the rug.
Superlek stops the winning race of ‘Samingpri’, who is making a short conversion after seeing the action just three weeks ago.
The #1 ranked contender in the Muay Thai flyweight class and the king of synchronized kickboxing in the weight class is looking to maintain his status by picking up another win in his next fight.
Superlek fought at ONE Friday Fights 22 on June 23 and dismembered 6-foot-2 opponent Nabil Annan via first-round knockout. Prior to that, he also saw action in January and March, first winning the vacant kickboxing world flyweight title before defending it.
ONE Fight Night 12 is available for free to Prime Video subscribers in North America.
