With the Indian Air Force authorities submitting a proposal for the expansion of the Indian Air Force Heritage Center in Sector 18, Chandigarh, under Phase II, the full operation is set to commence within two weeks. The second phase has already received clearance from the Indian Air Force Headquarters.

At a meeting held here between the UT management and the Air Force authorities chaired by the UT Adviser, it was discussed that the project would be completed within six months. A presentation was also made during the meeting where the officials put forward a detailed plan for the expansion, which will be called the ‘Indian Aerospace and Technology Centre’.

The new wing will be located in an adjoining hall covering an area of ​​approximately 13,000 square feet. It will feature a combination of technology-based systems, electronics, simulators and pneumatic actuators.

The second phase will include advanced technology-driven features and experiences, aimed at inspiring young people to join the Air Force.

Since its opening on May 8, the center has welcomed more than 22,500 visitors.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first phase of the Indian Air Force Heritage Center in Sector 18.

The 200-second virtual reality experience is one of the highlights of the centre. An Indian Air Force MiG-29 gradually takes off in the sky from Chapua Air Base in the northeast and speeds towards a Chinese air base. Soon after takeoff, the bombing of the Chinese air base began. This is just one of the scenes set apart from other plays.

A souvenir shop stocked with souvenirs and scale models of the IAF has been set up. A theme based café that also works for the public. A one-foot wall was also created with photos of 58 old and retired aircraft.
