Since Diablo 4 is an RPG, players will come across a lot of terms during their journey in the title. While some of them can be easily understood, some of them can be difficult to understand, especially for players who are not familiar with the genre. Without understanding what these terms mean, it can be difficult for the player to navigate the game’s content.
In a game like Diablo 4, players tend to have multiple skills at their disposal. At any time, these skills will apply a status effect to the enemy. With that said, this article takes a look at all the effects of the crowd control status in the game and how they work.
What is crowd control in Diablo 4?
In Diablo 4, you will mostly be dealing with groups of enemies. While mini-bosses and bosses are the exception to this rule, there are times when you will encounter groups of enemies during boss battles as well.
When you expose these groups to a specific obstruction that impedes their movement or their ability to harm you, you control the crowd. The condition that allows you to prevent them is known as the crowd control status effect. There are 11 different status effects that you will come across in Diablo 4.
All Diablo 4 crowd control statuses
- Cold: Limited to snow based skills. It will slow down enemies and may deal additional damage to enemies.
- daze: A stunned enemy will not be able to attack, but will still be able to move.
- afraid: An enemy under the influence of fear will automatically run away and will not be able to do anything until the effect wears off.
- freeze: It will freeze the enemy again and again. The frozen enemy is completely paralyzed and will not be able to move.
- back: The enemy is pushed back a certain distance when attacked. It does not immobilize them nor prevent them from attacking again.
- knock down: The enemy is dropped to the ground. When it falls to the ground, the enemy cannot attack.
- slow: The enemy moves slowly, and is slow to attack as well.
- lightning strike: The enemy was stunned for a while. While stunned, the enemy cannot move or attack.
- taunt: When an enemy is taunted, they attack in the direction of the taunt.
- pregnancy: The enemy is tied to a specific place and its movement is limited. Their attack distance has also been reduced.
These are the 11 different effects that you will come across in Diablo 4. Now, keep in mind that you are not the only one who can apply these states to your enemy; They can do the same for you.
It is wise to take into account at least two or more crowd control situations while creating your in-game structure. This makes dealing with large groups of enemies a lot easier.
