Indian-born, US citizen Nuria Haveliwala, who was convicted of drunk driving and mowed down two people including a traffic cop in 2010, died in a city hospital early this week of cardiac arrest.
Haveliwala has been in the news for several days after she caused a fatal accident while under the influence of alcohol. After her conviction, she completed her sentence and was living with her mother in Colaba.
She became depressed and was undergoing treatment and was also scheduled for surgery.
A source said that early this week she had a heart attack and was on her last breath. On January 30, 2010, Nooriya rammed her SUV into a police checkpoint at Marine Lines in south Mumbai, killing a policeman and a motorcyclist.
It later tested positive for alcohol and drugs. The police had filed a case against Nouriya for premeditated murder.
