The accused allegedly confessed to the crime and said that they dismembered the body and disposed of it by throwing the pieces into the pipe located in a farmhouse in Katakabhavi village.
Jain monk Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj, who had been missing for two days from his ashram in Karnataka’s Pelagavi district, has been killed, officials said on Saturday. They added that two people have been arrested in the case.
The monk, who used to stay at Nandi Parvata Jain Basadi for 15 years, has been reported missing since Thursday.
On July 6, Basadi director Bheemappa Ugare filed a complaint about the missing Jain Muni. We have started investigation and have detained two people in connection with the case. The search is on for the body,” the officer told the agency.

The report further stated that shortly after the former accused made the allegation, they changed their statement and said that they “wrapped the body in cloth and disposed of it in a river”.
The report stated that the main suspect in the killing was the Ashram worker.
Members of the Ground Self-Defense Forces and the local police are searching for the body in the village fields. Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Patil stated that they searched multiple areas as indicated by the accused.
Access to the search operation site has been restricted to the public and the media. She added that S.P. Patel has set up a camp at the site, and a forensic team is also present at the search site.
