A day after Praful Patel, once a trusted aide to Sharad Pawar and who has now switched his allegiance to Ajit Pawar, claimed that the latter’s daughter Supriya Soli had become the fulcrum of all his actions, the NCP chief hit back on Saturday on Patel, saying he had been appointed as a minister despite of his loss in the Lok Sabha elections. Pawar said that he was told by several NCP staffers that he did not do Soli justice by not appointing her as a minister despite her winning the Lok Sabha elections time and time again.
Party workers wanted Supriya to enter politics, and she fought the Lok Sabha polls and won. This is her third term in Lok Sabha and she has also served for a short time as Deputy Rajya Sabha. Has she held any position of power in government throughout her career? When we came to power in the center, Suryakanta Patel was appointed as a minister, and Agatha Sangma was appointed as a minister. “All this happened when Supriya was an MP for the Lok Sabha,” Pawar said during a press conference in Nashik.
Patel had claimed on Saturday, in an interview with The Indian Express, that Sole had become the fulcrum for all of Pawar’s actions. “There are two main things that led to this decision… One, that Sharad Pawar has not been shy in the past about allying with the BJP… Two, his daughter has become the focus of all his actions, and he has spoiled his decision on the matter,” he said.
Hours after the report was published, Patel tweeted, “I totally deny any such conversation regarding Smt Supriya Sule. No such interview is ever conducted by me!”
