A video of school children standing on a road in northern Maharashtra to welcome the convoy of a newly installed NCP minister has gone viral on social media.

The video shows children, apparently from the Shala Ashram in the Emilner Tehsil district of Jalgaon, standing on a road, while girls stand on one side and boys on the other.

Ashram shawls are boarding schools for students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The video shows the children, some without shoes, sitting along the road for some time, waiting for the arrival of Anil Patel, who has been sworn in as a minister in the state government along with eight other MLAs from his party.

Once the minister’s car arrived, the children were seen standing up and getting up, and some even saluting the minister.

While the viral video sparked outrage on social media, there was no reaction from the minister or the local administration.

A police official in Emllner, which is 350 km from Mumbai, said they had no information about the incident, adding that no complaint had been received so far.
