Delhi gets its first heavy spell of the season; The Jhelum River in J&K is above the flood mark in some areas; More than 10,000 people have been displaced in the monsoon season in Kerala this year. Watch how the rains affect life, and their spells continue across the country
With the monsoon coming into its full form, heavy rains swept through the northern parts of the country, resulting in severe waterlogging, traffic problems, along with floods and landslides in many areas over the weekend.
Delhi experienced the highest rainfall in a single day in 20 years and also witnessed the first heavy rain of the season. Uprooted trees, damaged vehicles, floods and long hauls were common sites in the national capital.
Delhi
In Delhi, many areas were under water, especially the Pragati Maidan Tunnel and Minto Road which were closed due to excessive waterlogging on Saturday.

PWD received at least 100 complaints of waterlogging from across the capital and a “yellow alert” was sounded for Sunday.
It has been raining since last night and throughout the day, resulting in waterlogging in most areas and heavy inundation in low-lying areas.
Himachal Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has issued a “red alert” for 7 districts in the hill state, which are likely to see “extremely heavy” rain on Sunday.
In another development, six houses under construction were damaged due to a landslide in Kasauli district of Solan district on Saturday morning.
The Manali-Leh National Highway has been closed after the Teeling River flooded. More roads have been blocked in Lahaul and Spiti districts.
Jammu and Kashmir
Due to the continuous rains, the water level of the Jhelum River and its tributaries rose rapidly. The flood warning market has passed in some places.
As a result, people living near the shore were advised by the authorities to avoid venturing into the water.
The IMD predicted light, intermittent to moderate rain on Sunday, along with very heavy rain in some places.
From July 10 to 14, the weather will remain cloudy and thundery rain is likely.
Kerala
Kerala also experienced heavy rains in the morning in most places, which led to the flooding of low-lying areas.
According to the Disaster Management Authority, 19 people have lost their lives due to the rains as of Friday and more than 10,000 people have been replaced by monsoons this year.
A yellow alert was issued for the districts of Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Saturday.
Rajasthan
Heavy to very heavy rains were seen in several districts of Rajasthan. In rain-related accidents, four people have died in the past 24 hours.
A woman and a man died after being struck by lightning in Chittorgarh, while two men drowned in separate accidents in Sawai Madhopur, according to police.
Punjab
An ‘orange alert’ has been issued in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh for Saturday and Sunday in most places.
Punjab experienced monsoons, with Amritsar receiving 20mm of rain while Firozpur had 108mm.
The Met Office predicted light to moderate rain in most places in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday.
Chandigarh witnessed continuous rains on Saturday, with temperatures dropping to 26.5 degrees Celsius.
