Patrick Mahomes is coming off a historic season in which he led the Kansas City Chiefs to their second Super Bowl victory in the past four seasons.

He won his second career MVP award as well, and now he probably has wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins playing him.

The former Arizona Cardinals star has been linked with a move to the Chiefs and may be open to playing an opponent for the Super Bowl champions.

However, popular Chiefs fan and NFL analyst Nick Wright did not want Hopkins on the team. He believes the team already has a lot of talented receivers that could help Mahomes.

This is what Nick Wright said ‘most important things first’:

“I worry because the Chiefs don’t need DeAndre Hopkins. They have Kadarius Toney, they have Skyy Moore recently seen walking into the end zone in the Super Bowl, they have Marquez Valdes-Scantling recently saw a touchdown in an AFC title game, they have drafted Rashad Rice, they have Richie James.

“I love a guy who might not even make his list, Justin Ross. He had 150 yards and a touchdown in the National Championship Game at 18 years old in college. So, they don’t need him, the Patriots need him badly but DeAndre doesn’t. We don’t want the Patriots,” he said. He wants the bosses.”

The New England Patriots have been chasing DeAndre Hopkins hard, and the wide receiver had a positive visit as well, but there was no update after that.

Hopkins may find it difficult to turn down the opportunity to play alongside Mahomes and Travis Kelce, which is why the Patriots may miss out on acquiring a star receiver to help quarterback, Mac Jones.

In terms of fitness, Mahomes improves everyone around him, and having Hopkins on the team certainly wouldn’t hurt. However, if the receiver demands a higher salary, the Chiefs can avoid signing him due to the talent they already have on their roster.

As Nick Wright states, despite losing the likes of Mekul Hardman and Jojo Smith-Schuster to free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs still have promising receivers.

Kadarius Toney could potentially thrive in his role and could become WR1 boss, while Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore are also expected to contribute next season.

Rookie Rashi Rice and Justin Ross, who both missed last season due to injury, are expected to play vital roles as well.

Moreover, Travis Kelce has shown no signs of slowing down and will be Patrick Mahomes’ go-to guy for their quest to defend their Super Bowl title.
