The first qualifier for the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 was held at the SCF Cricket Ground in Salem between Lyca Kovai Kings and Dindigul Dragons.
The Kovai Kings were told to strike first and posted 193 mammoths in their allotted twenties. B Sachin top scored with 70, while Suboth Bhati took four wickets for the Dragons.
In the repsonse, C Sarath Kumar down the pecking order playing a blinder. He scored 62 from 26 overs, but it wasn’t enough as Dindigu finished their innings on 163-9. The Kovai Kings advance to the final, while the Dragons face the winner of the Eliminator.
List of Most Played TNPL 2023
Lyca Kovai Kings’ Sai Sudharsan continues to head the playlist at TNPL 2023, despite not appearing in the past few games. He made 371 runs in six matches at an average of 74.20, and hit four fifties.
Baba Aparajith of Chepauk Super Gillies sits just below Sudharsan on the TNPL 2023 playlist. He has 283 runs in seven innings. He averages 47.17 and will be disappointed not to get a chance to add to his tally, as Super Gillies failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Dindigul opener Shivam Singh missed the first heat. With his team chasing 194, Singh scored 10 of his 14 runs before leaving on the last powerplay over. He has taken his tally to 280 points in eight matches and follows Abrajith in the scoring charts.
TNPL 2023 Most Wickets List
Subodh Bhati of the Dindigul Dragons catapulted him to number one in the wickets list in TNPL 2023. He bowled the right-arm right-hander against the Kovai Kings, hitting figures of 4-37 in four overs. He has taken 15 wickets and is the leading wicket-taker in the competition.
SRK moved from Lyca Kovai Kings to second place in the wicket charts after first qualifying. He picked up the main wicket of Shivam Singh on Friday. He took 14 wickets in TNPL 2023 and played a pivotal role in his team’s qualification for the final.
Gurjapneet Singh of the Siechem Madurai Panthers took 13 wickets in seven matches in TNPL 2023. The left arm performer was impressive with his pace and averaged 13 runs with the ball. He will be looking to play a key role for the Panthers against the Nellai Royal Kings in The Eliminator.
