Tampa Bay Rays player Tyler Glasnow was forced to leave the game against the Atlanta Braves early amid a stellar performance. Glasnow lasted 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and striking out eight batters.
Reports are coming in that Glasnow quit the game due to a hand spasm. Tampa Bay is hoping nothing comes of it anymore, because they’re hurting pitchers in their starting rotation already.

Glasnow has had trouble with his hand cramping up in the past. He experienced hand cramps in 2021, stating they got so bad he couldn’t reach out, which scared him. The strange thing is that the convulsion occurs in his hand and not in his hand.
Everyone goes out to check on Glasnow, who has come down from the bending mound. He’s trying to extend his hand and wrist, so maybe it’s a muscle spasm or tightness?

This issue is unlikely to be worth an IL trip, but that can’t be left off the table just yet. Glasno will be watched closely to see if he will be ready to start on his next start. If he can’t go, Tampa Bay will have to scramble and look for another arm to bring in.
The Tampa Bay Rays struggle to keep their first rotation intact. So far, they’ve got Shane McClanahan, Shane Buzz, Drew Rasmussen, and Jeffrey Springs all in IL.
Despite this, the Rays are still currently at the top of the American League East. They are four games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles in the division.
It can be argued that all the injuries to the spinners have subsided for the Rays as they no longer have the best MLB record, which goes to the Atlanta Braves.
Tampa Bay can’t afford to send another starting pitcher to IL. Notably, their rotation is what sets them apart from the rest of the league. All eyes will be on Zac Evelyn and Taj Bradley if Tyler Glasnow takes some time to recover.
