Arch Manning started his college football life with the Texas Longhorns during a spring game. However, the #1 recruit in the class of 2023 had a performance to forget as he struggled a lot during his unofficial debut on the team.

The highly rated quarterback completed just 5 of 13 passes for 30 yards in the Orange’s 21-10 loss to the Whites. This was not a performance that many Texans fans expected as the signal caller was expected to hit the ground running.

However, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkissian wasn’t interested in Manning’s early struggles in the program. He believes the quarterback is making progress and stressed the fact that he should normally complete his senior year of high school. Speaking on the Always College Football podcast, Sarkissian said:

“I felt I needed to remind everyone, at our spring game, the guy should have been at the Senior Car Wash raising money for prom or something. He should still have been in high school at that game. It was an invaluable experience for me.” To be with us and let a lot of this modernity come out.

Manning enrolled in Texas early during the winter. He had little time to learn the rules of the game and acclimate to college football. Sarkissian believes his humility will be key to his success with the team and he appears to be on the right track.

“He’s a regular guy with us and he’s a regular guy to himself and in and around the building. But for everyone else, when you take on the name, it comes with those expectations. So, I think he realizes how to balance those kinds of things, ultimately he’s down a great path for us.” “.

After a stellar 2022 season and stellar performance in the spring games, Quinn Ewers will continue as the Texas quarterback in the upcoming 2023 season. The caller threw for 2,177 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

This gives Arch Manning the opportunity to monitor and develop during his first year. With his high school performance, there is no doubt about the quarterback’s ability. He owns all the material tools and has a reputation as a hard worker.

With Quinn Ewers expected to be selected for the 2024 NFL Draft, Manning could get the starting role in his sophomore year at Texas. So he can take advantage of the first year to develop his game and adapt to the world of college football.

After an 8-5 season in 2022, the Texas Longhorns are expected to have a stellar season in 2023. Former running back and Heisman winner Ricky Williams believes the Texans can compete for the national championship.
