Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday foiled a plot to revive separatist groups in the valley and arrested a group of terrorists and ex-separatists who were allegedly meeting for this purpose at a hotel in Srinagar.

sources said News 18 that about 43 people had gathered at the hotel for this alleged meeting, which was later stormed by the police.

The sources added that some of these people belong to the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.

In a tweet, Srinagar Police wrote “A search was conducted on the basis of reliable information about the meeting of some ex-JKLF TRTS and ex-separatists in a hotel in Srinagar. They were brought to Kothibagh PS for verification. Investigation started, it appeared at first sight that they were planning to revive JKLF and freedoms.”

They were detained by the police and taken to Koti Bagh police station, where they were interrogated again.

According to our sources, some of them were terrorists with the outlawed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in the past while others were in active separatist ranks before the crackdown by the government.

After the abolition of 370, the government launched a massive crackdown on separatist elements. The NIA also arrested military separatists who were allegedly getting money from Pakistan to stoke unrest in Kashmir.
