According to Samba Superintendent of Police, Panam Tosh, he was arrested during operations in Dharamshala and McCloudganj in Himachal Pradesh.
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have resolved a recent case of swimming pool shooting in Samba district by arresting the main suspect from Himachal Pradesh.
Balvinder Singh alias ‘Goru’, a resident of Vijaypur district of Samba, has been identified as the main accused in the case. Samba Chief Inspector of Police, Benam Tosh, said he was arrested during raids in Dharamshala and Maklodganj in Himachal Pradesh.
He said the police registered a case and started investigation immediately after a group of 10 masked criminals appeared in Birpur swimming pool on July 3 and injured two workers Tahir Latif and Muzaffar Siraj from Kishtwar with sharp weapons.
They opened fire with a pistol before fleeing the scene. SSP said the investigation revealed that notorious heroin smugglers ‘Lambu-Gujjar-Gang’, also known as ‘Yuqa-Gujjar-Gang’ committed a fatal attack on innocent swimming pool guards in Birpur.
A few days before the incident, some gang members had a fight with the pool crew after they refused to let them take a shower without undressing. He said that raids are underway to arrest the other suspects involved in the case.
