The Nellai Royal Kings faced the Siechem Madurai Panthers in the 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) competition. The SCF Cricket Ground in Salem hosted this thriller of the competition.

The Royal Kings were asked to bat first and at the end of fifties from G Ajitesh (50) and Nidhish Rajagopal (76), they posted a mammoth 211 on the board. The leopards picked up six wickets in all, with Gurjapneet Singh finishing with two.

Chasing 212, Suresh Lokeshwar (40), V. Aditya (73), and Swapnil Singh (48) took the match to the last over. The Royal Kings held their nerve as they restricted the Panthers to 207/4 to win the match by four runs.

With this, the Panthers were eliminated from the competition, while the Royal Kings would face the Dindigul Dragons in the second qualifier.

Lyca Kovai Kings’ Sai Sudharsan continues to lead the list for most races. He has made 371 runs in six innings so far and averaged 74.20 in the Championship. He will not feature in any further role in TNPL 2023 and hopes to end his run as the competition’s top scorer.

G Ajitesh of Nellai Royal Kings played a great strike against the Panthers in Eliminator. He batted in the third, hitting seven boundaries and a six in his knock of 50 from 30 balls. With this, he jumped to second place in the list of most running. He now has 311 runs to his name in eight outings and is sitting just below Sudharsan.

Chepauk Super Gillies’ Baba Aparajith slipped to third place in the list of most races in TNPL 2023. The experienced veteran was his team’s lone fighter in this year’s competition. He scored 283 runs in seven matches and finished at an average of 47.17.

Gurjapneet Singh of Siechem Madurai Panthers is currently the leading wicket-taker in TNPL 2023. He scored figures of 2/42 in eliminating the Royal Monarchs and moved to the top of the wicket-taking list. He took his tally to 15 wickets in eight matches at an average of 14.06 with the ball.

Subodh Bhatti of Dindigul Dragons slips to second place in the list of highest wicket takers in TNPL 2023. He has also taken 15 wickets in eight matches but sits below Gurjapneet as he averages 15.8 with the ball. He hopes to add to his tally in a second playoff against the Royal Monarchs.

SRK leading the Lyca Kovai Kings from the front. With his off-putting approach, he has taken 14 wickets in eight matches so far and follows Bhati in the charts for most wickets in the TNPL for the year.

He averages 11.71 with the ball and is sure to upset opposition opponents. He will be looking to step up and take out his A-game in the final on Wednesday.
