The man allegedly set fire to Jajnana, the labourer, and then attempted to mutilate her as an electrocution.
Police said a 32-year-old grocery store owner from Molihthlu was arrested here on charges of killing his worker by setting him on fire and then calling him electrocuted. Mangaluru South Police Commissioner said the accused, Tauseef Hussain, was arrested on Saturday based on evidence after questioning local residents in the vicinity.
The man allegedly set fire to Jajnana, the labourer, and then attempted to mutilate her as an electrocution. Police said the accused killed Gajnana over a minor disagreement by setting him on fire. To cover up the crime, people in the area falsely reported that Gagnana had been electrocuted and taken to hospital for treatment, where doctors pronounced him dead.
After a preliminary investigation, the police confirmed that the incident was a murder and the accused was arrested. Police said a case has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.
