In first conclusive indictment of WFI chief Brij Bhushan Charan SinghThe Delhi Police indictment states that based on the “investigation so far” of complaints from six senior wrestlers, Singh was ” liable to be prosecuted and punished for the offences” of sexual harassment, harassment and stalking.
Relying on Articles 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 (women’s indignant modesty); 354a (sexual harassment); and 354D (stalking), the charge sheet dated June 13, also noted that in one case, Singh’s harassment was “repeated and persistent.”
In two of the six cases, Singh was booked under Sections 354, 354A and 354D, while four were under Sections 354 and 354A – these cases carry a penalty of up to five years.
According to the indictment reviewed by The Indian Express, the Delhi Police have asked the court to summon Singh and the witnesses.
The indictment states, “Please summon the accused to face trial, and the witnesses whose names appear in the list of witnesses attached to the charge sheet may be summoned for questioning along with the documents mentioned with their names.”
The charge sheet adds that investigators spoke to 108 witnesses of whom 15, including wrestlers, coaches, and referees, corroborated the wrestlers’ allegations.
Singh was not available for comment. However, according to an attachment to the charge sheet, in his cross-examination by the Delhi Police, Singh denied all allegations and claimed that he had never met the wrestlers nor had their phone numbers.
In their complaints, the wrestlers alleged 15 incidents of sexual harassment, including 10 episodes of inappropriate touching. Several instances of intimidation, including stalking.
In the charge sheet, the Delhi Police included corroborated statements of witnesses relating to specific allegations of six wrestlers.
Gladiator 1
Allegations: “I was out for dinner at the hotel restaurant, the accused (Singh) invited me to the dinner table… He put his hand on my chest, touched me, then put his hand on my stomach… again and again for 3-4 times… in the WFI office.. He began to touch me inappropriately on my palms, knees, thighs, and shoulders without my consent… He placed his hand on my chest and slid it on my stomach under the pretense of checking my breath.”

* “Brig Bhushan inappropriately touched the victim’s chest and stomach under the pretense of checking her breathing in the dining area of ​​the hotel/restaurant… The victim had assured her that she was not feeling well at the time of the accident.”

Allegations: “He made me talk to my parents on the phone… The accused (Singh) called me towards his bed… He tried to hug me tightly without my permission… He tried to bribe me by offering to buy me supplements that I might need as an athlete in exchange for sexual favours.”
