While 17 people were reported killed in rain-related accidents in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and J&K, about five deaths were reported in the UP Plains, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan, according to a report by Times of India.

For Himachal Pradesh which continues to receive heavy rains, IMD has once again issued a Red Alert for seven districts and an Orange Alert for three districts in the next 48 hours.

IMD said there will be light to moderate rain with heavy to very heavy rain likely for two days in the western Himalayan region, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

In western India, there will be light to moderate rains with isolated heavy rains continuing in Konkan, Goa and Ghat regions of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

After three days, the precipitation is expected to decrease.

IMD also said, “Heavy to very heavy rains likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur over the next 5 days. Isolated heavy rains likely over Odisha over the next 5 days, likely in Jharkhand between 10 July and July 12, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar.

“In central India, heavy rains are very likely in the region over the next five days in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, in southern India, isolated heavy rains are very likely in coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
