Ham Seo Hee and Itsuki Hirata’s rivalry may have only featured one fight, but the scenes leading up to their fateful meeting are as tense as any trilogy.
The two stars from two generations were originally scheduled to face off at ONE 163 in November 2022, but Hirata failed to make the atomic weight limit. Although the welterweight bout could be negotiated, Hamm refused this stipulation, and their final meeting was postponed nearly four months later.
Hamm and Hirata eventually settled their scores on the Amazon card at ONE Fight Night 8 in March 2023 in Singapore. After months of uncertainty, Hamm was sure her victory was as certain as the sunrise.
The South Korean veteran dominated the match with her superior striking, while Hirata failed to secure any major offensive sequences during the match. Hamm would ultimately control the dominant unanimous decision.
An important victory over Hirata also propelled her to a match against Stamp Fairtex for the interim World Women’s Welterweight Title at ONE Fight Night 14 on September 29.
Prior to Hamm’s world title bout, ONE Championship posted their match against Hirata as well as some behind-the-scenes footage from the extra weight.
Before South Korean superstar Ham Seo-hee faces off against the MMA World Heavyweight Champion with Stamp Fairtex on September 1, relive all the action from her showdown with Japanese phenomenon Itsuki Hirata at ONE Fight Night 8!
Hamm is 3-0 in ONE Championship and has once held the titles of Rizin, Road FC and Jewels. Her bout against Stamp is quite possibly the biggest of her already stellar career.
Meanwhile, Stamp is seeking a chance at a third world title in as many sports as ONE. The Thai superstar, at one point, held both the Muay Thai and kickboxing atomic weight titles simultaneously.
She then captured the Women’s World Grand Prix Welterweight title, but failed in her attempt to win the Women’s World Welterweight Championship title against Angela Lee at ONE X.
ONE Fight Night 14 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
