Tomato price has reached Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg in Karnataka
Police said that a car that was transporting 2,000 kilograms of tomatoes to a market was robbed by unknown assailants in Bengaluru.
The incident occurred on July 8 at the RMC Yard Police Station near Chikkajala.
According to the police, the farmer was transporting his produce from Heryur town in Chitradurga to Kolar market.
The three rascals followed the tomato car in their car.
Then they stormed the car and assaulted the farmer and the driver, claiming that their vehicle had collided.
They also demanded money from them and later got the amount transferred to their mobile phones online.
The rascals then got into the car with the tomatoes and drove away, leaving the farmer and driver on the road. RMC Yard Police collect CCTV footage to obtain clues about the miscreants.
Tomato price has reached Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg in Karnataka.
Farmers had to pitch tents and guard the tomato crop as miscreants invade farms and commit robberies to make quick money.
