India star Virat Kohli has been seen giving autographs and clicking pictures with some young fans ahead of the first Test against West Indies which will be played in Dominica from Wednesday, July 12.

In a video posted by BCCI, fans were also seen expressing their feelings about having to spend time with Kohli and also clicking pictures with him. Show autographed hats and balls that they are likely to keep as a keepsake.

Here is the video:

Virat Kohli is the only active Indian player to have played Test for Dominica

Dominica hasn’t hosted a Test match since 2017, and that speaks volumes about how rarely the West Indies play on the field. Virat Kohli himself was a part of the Indian XI that last played a Test in Dominica in 2011.

Head coach Rahul Dravid was also part of that squad and Kohli posted a photo with the former Indian legend before the First Test, reminiscing about what was the latter’s first stint as a Test batsman.

This is what Kohli said in the post:

“The only two parts from the players in the last test we played in Dominica in 2011. I never imagined the trip would bring us back here in such a different capacity. Very grateful.”

With Team India entering a new World Test Championship (WTC) tournament, the focus will likely be on the performance of the senior players. The defeat in the final of the World Tennis Championships against Australia prompted fans to call for the Indian team to move forward.

While the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav have been left out, the performances of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and other top players may be seen through a magnifying glass. With every crucial point in the WTC tournament, India wants to dominate and make it a clean sweep in the Caribbean.
