Roma striker Paulo Dybala has rejected Chelsea’s links and claims he is ready to start training with the Italian club from Monday 10 July. The Argentine has been spotted at the British Grand Prix and Silverstone, sparking rumors of a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
The striker has a release clause of €12m and Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to want his club to activate him. LaRoma 24 He was met at the airport by Dybala, who quickly dismissed claims he was leaving Roma for Chelsea this summer.
When he was tested, Dybala said:
“I’m happy to be in Rome, of course. Will I stay here? Yes, we’ll start training tomorrow.”
The quotes came just hours after Thiago Silva admitted he wanted to see Dybala join him at Stamford Bridge. Sky Sports quoted the Brazilian as saying:
“I saw Paulo Dybala here, they (the media) are talking about him coming to Chelsea. I spoke to him and asked him if he was coming. He’s a world class player. I would like to play with him and that would be a huge signing. Let’s see.”
The Blues are looking to add more experience to the side as they prepare for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Roma coach Jose Mourinho was questioned about Paulo Dybala last week and claimed he had no knowledge of his release clause. He admitted to having talks with the Argentine, like any other player on his team, but said he had no information about the release clause.
He was quoted by Football Italia as saying:
“I don’t know anything about his contract. But obviously I talk to Paulo like I talk to all my players.”
Dybala was a big fan of former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho and praised him. Earlier this year, GOAL quoted him as saying:
“José Mourinho has an image and an important influence because of everything he represents in the world of football. He will be a good chess player. Before we got here, we spoke twice, he called me when I was still in Turin. I felt special with him, it’s hard in the world of football that I find someone who says things to you in an honest way. I have a direct relationship with him.”
Chelsea have added Nicholas Jackson to their squad alongside Christopher Nkunku this summer to bolster their attack.
