Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims that only PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) can give Victor Osimhen everything but exclude Manchester United from the race for the striker.

Both the Parisians and the Red Devils are interested in Osimhen, who was in form last season. The Nigerian forward scored 31 goals in 39 appearances across competitions, helping Napoli win the Serie A title.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is looking for a new striker this summer, but the club’s finances mean a move for Osimhen is unlikely. De Laurentiis has now stated that only PSG can afford a transfer for the 24-year-old (via transfer expert Fabrizio Romano):

“The only club that can afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain. If Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants to send an offer of around 200 million euros…we will wait and see what happens.”

The Ligue 1 champions may be in the market for a world-class striker as Kylian Mbappe’s future is in serious doubt. The French player has been closely linked with a move to Real Madrid which could fetch a fee of €200m.

Hence, PSG may use this money to lure Osimhen to the Princes’ Park as an immediate replacement for Mbappe. However, De Laurentiis believes the Nigerian will stay with Gli Azzurri:

Personally, I think Victor will stay here.

Osimhen has two years left on his contract at Diego Armando Maradona. He arrived at Napoli three years ago and became their main scorer.

Manchester United appear to have accepted defeat in their pursuit of Osimhen. They are said to be turning their attention to Atalanta’s Rasmus Höglund and have already agreed personal terms with the Danish striker.

Paris Saint-Germain has made no secret of its admiration for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi acknowledged their interest in the 25-year-old during the 2022 World Cup last year. He told Sky Sports:

“He’s another really great player. And for free? To get Rashford for a free, every team will go after him for sure. We don’t hide him, we’ve spoken before and … interest. But the moment wasn’t a good moment for both sides. Maybe summer, why not?”

The comments came before United extended Rashford’s contract by one year. They came in the midst of a stellar season for the England player, who has scored 30 goals and 11 assists in 56 appearances across competitions.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs claims PSG are still interested in the striker amid their possible need to replace Mbappe. However, they do expect the England international to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

Rashford has held talks with the Red Devils about a new deal and it doesn’t seem far off. He is seen as an indisputable part of Ten Hag’s plans at Manchester United.
